- I met Marijke Engelbrecht through a friend whom she had helped get rid of Lyme disease. I had regularly recurring pneumonia for which I had been taking antibiotics for months. Not a tenable situation, in other words. Marijke picked it up energetically. She determined which "beast" had such a grip on me. Furthermore, she took the time to establish a comprehensive timeline of important events in my life and determine their consequences on my current health situation. All this led to a recommendation for quite a lifestyle change. I was able to stop the antibiotic within a week, thus getting rid of the essence of my problem. My overall health continued to improve gradually over the following months. Marijke helped me adjust my way of living and eating step by step and I still benefit from this every day. During the consultations, I noticed that her knowledge is enormous and that she is constantly expanding it. She also explained what was going on to me in understandable language. Because I understand what is going on, I am also motivated to make the lifestyle changes that are necessary. Paul, Hoorn
- I would highly recommend Marijke, she has helped me so much to get rid of my lifelong eczema symptoms. I came to Marijke 1.5 years after the birth of my daughter. During my pregnancy, these symptoms were completely gone, but came back rock hard after I stopped breastfeeding. And even worse than ever. I had stopped applying hormone ointment for years, but I considered starting again because I had so many symptoms. Right after the first intake, I knew I had made the right choice to come to Marijke. The intake was so incredibly thorough and she was also able to explain to me afterwards exactly what was going on with my systems. This insight gave me more grip on the situation and from this insight I also had the motivation to start the process of healing. Because this did not go without a struggle. But slowly but surely I began to heal with the help of supplements and a pretty drastic diet, all under the fantastic guidance of Marijke. Not only was she available to me during our appointments, I could always email her for questions, help and adjustment where needed. I am now several months on and can say that I have a grip on my symptoms for the first time in my life. I know what to do and what not to do to limit my complaints. If my symptoms do flare up again, I can interpret this. This feels so incredibly nice and I owe it all to Marijke. Jessica, Amsterdam.
- After years of suffering from gastrointestinal complaints, we are finally complaint-free. Marijke taught us to look at food differently and adjust our diet. We have gained beautiful insights and have more energy. Thank you Marijke. Janneke and Rob, Soest
- I would like to tell you that I received good advice from Marijke Engelbrecht regarding my poly neuropathy. My complaints were: very painful feet as if a band was pulled around my foot. Feeling like shoes were way too tight and my feet were thick. In bed not knowing how to put my feet down. Walking hurt immensely. The GP told me it was poly neuropathy and it did not look good. I could end up in a wheelchair. I didn't want to know about this so made an appointment with Marijke Engelbrecht in Amsterdam.
Advice: tackle my lifestyle, diet and some supplements. I have now lost 14 kg in (excess) weight and my feet are less painful and not thick anymore. Feel much better, in terms of nutrition I pay super close attention to what I eat. Especially sugar has been cut out! And I still take some supplements according to Marijke's advice. Intermittent Living: the use of ancient challenges as a vaccine against the deleterious effect od modern life - A hypothesis
Chronic non-communicable diseases (CNCD) are the leading cause of mortality in developed countries. They ensue from the sum of modern anthropogenic risk factors, including high calorie nutrition, malnutrition, se- dentary lifestyle, social stress, environmental toxins, politics and economic factors. Many of these factors are beyond the span of control of individuals, suggesting that CNCD are inevitable. However, various studies, ours included, show that the use of intermittent challenges with hormetic effects improve subjective and objective well-being of individuals with CNCD, while having favourable effects on immunological, metabolic and beha- vioural indices. Intermittent cold, heat, fasting and ...
